Malawi visa for Kenyan passport holders
Kenyan passport holders don't need a visa for Malawi
Visa-free stays are up to 90 days. Longer stays, work and study usually need a visa.
Heads up: Malawi's immigration department says that since 24 February 2026, nationals of its 'Category Two' countries can get a visa on arrival, while 'Category One' nationals must get a visa or prior authorisation before departure. Malawi has changed its rules several times in 2026 and we haven't been able to read which category your passport is in, so check evisa.gov.mw before you buy a ticket.
What you'll typically need
- A passport valid for at least six months from the day you arrive, with blank pages
- Proof of onward or return travel
- A yellow fever vaccination certificate โ many African countries ask for it, especially if you've been in an affected country
Typical requirements, not a guarantee โ the destination decides.
Individual passport results come from Passport Index data as of February 2026. Faylo hasn't yet checked Malawi against its government's own site. Rules change, so always check the official source before you pay or book. Faylo is not an embassy or immigration adviser.

Questions
Do Kenyan citizens need a visa for Malawi?
Kenyan passport holders don't need a visa for Malawi. Visa-free stays are up to 90 days. Longer stays, work and study usually need a visa. Confirm on Malawi e-Visa portal (Department of Immigration) before you pay or book, because entry rules change.
Should I use an agent to get a Malawi visa?
Only if you want someone to handle the paperwork for you. Government fees are the same whether or not you use an agent, and agents add their own fee on top โ sometimes more than the visa itself. Check that the government fee is listed separately and avoid agents who ask for payment to a personal account.
