๐ง๐ฏ Benin visa requirements
Who needs a visa, an e-visa or an eTA to enter Benin, what to prepare, and where to apply officially.
Heads up: Benin's official portal (evisa.bj) is the only place to apply online. ECOWAS citizens, including Nigerians and Ghanaians, travel without a visa; if you need one, use evisa.bj and not a look-alike agent site.
| Passport | Entry rule |
|---|---|
| Nigerian | No visa needed |
| Ghanaian | No visa needed |
| Kenyan | No visa needed |
| South African | No visa needed |
| Egyptian | No visa needed |

Key rules for Benin were checked against Benin official e-Visa portal: visa costs in October 2026. Individual passport results come from Passport Index data as of February 2026, corrected where official sources disagreed. Faylo is not an embassy or immigration adviser.

Do I need a visa for Benin?
It depends on your passport. The table above covers the passports most Faylo travellers hold; use the checker for any other. Whatever the result, confirm it on Benin e-Visa portal (Government of Benin) before you pay or book.
Where do I apply for a Benin visa?
Use the official site: Benin e-Visa portal (Government of Benin) (https://evisa.bj). Government sites don't charge for the form itself โ only the visa fee. Be careful with look-alike sites and agents who bundle the fee with their own.
How long before I travel should I apply?
Allow more time than you think you need: online approvals can take days, and embassy visas can take weeks. Start at least a few weeks before you fly, and don't buy non-refundable flights until you have the approval.
